Course Information - June
Hello Members and Guests.
You have probably noticed a few additions in cart paths on the golf course. This is one project that is achieved over the cooler months. We have installed new paths from the 1st green leading to the 2nd tee and the 8th green leading to 9th tee. Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking to upgrade the path in front of the 13th tee. This will include the removal of existing slender bitumen path, shaping the ground and then spreading crushed granite to create a new path.
Starting from the 1st week of July we will commence the much needed installation of irrigation to the fairways. We will be doing this project ourselves so it may take some time to complete. We will aim to complete one maybe two holes a week, pending on the length of hole and weather. We have set a finishing date of the 16th of September; we will not commence anymore irrigation after this date as we need the irrigation scars to heal in time for the PGA Championships.
If there are any remaining holes that need to be completed we will aim to complete after the championships. We understand during the installation of the irrigation there will be some degree of inconvenience. It is necessary for our safety to close the hole that we will be working on, but in exchange for that hole we will be opening the chipping green as a par 3. This way 18 holes will be open at all times. We have recently done a lot of work to the chipping green to get it up to standard ready for play.
We apologize for the inconvenience but it will most certainly be a case of short term pain for long term gain. Once the irrigation is complete we will have a much greener and playable course in the drier periods, the benefit of running fairway watering ay night, so no longer will golfers will be inconvenienced by running water during the days play and the reduction of man hours in keeping the course watered to the standard that we expect.
Thanking you for your time and happy golfing.
Course Superintendent.
